about a little bit feral

a little bit feral is a collection of stories and art about life with a sensitive dog.

what started as a way for me to process the fiery baptism of raising a high-needs pooch with a suite of complex health and behaviour challenges, has morphed into a study of canine companionship, exploring the biological, societal, personal, and psychological factors that underpin our lives with dogs.

and how sharks are like vacuum cleaners.

about us

Mango is a two-year-old blue heeler x border collie x hurricane with the temper of a honey badger, anxiety of a millennial, and immune system of a pretzel (hold the mustard).

I’m a scruffy writer and artist documenting life with said hurricane through stories and scribbles.

a little bit feral is where I process and share my experiences as a dog owner, and feral art for fellow pooch parents. I also create art about a lot of other stuff too.

add a little *spice*

Mango’s behaviour vet says she’s neurodivergent.

My behaviour vet* says I am too.

That is to say, neither of us spicy-brained, sensitive souls thinks in a way ‘typical’ of the majority of our respective species. This makes for an interesting dynamic.

what to expect

the difficult-dog guardian journey can be really lonely.

dealing with the dog is the easy part. it’s navigating the opinions, judgement, and emotions of fellow humans that’s hard.

my hope is that you’ll find a little bit feral to be entertaining and educational but more importantly, relatable.
